Space Coast Poets president wins award

BREVARD COUNTY – Space Coast Poets announced its president, Jim Peterson, earned second place for his poem 'Intentions' at the 2019 Poetry Society of Michigan's contest.

Mr. Peterson is a poet, essayist and short story writer. He also is a member of the Space Coast Writers Guild. Mr. Peterson presently is writing his first novel about a stunning sabotage attempt of the then-fledgling U.S. rocket program at Cape Canaveral in 1951.

The Space Coast Poets hold their meeting on the third Tuesday of every month from 5:15-7:15 p.m. in Room 130 at the Suntree/Viera Public Library at 902 Jordan Blass Drive.

Space Coast Poets encourages Poetry for All and provides a fantastic forum for writers to improve their craft through constructive critique. Poets and enthusiasts of all levels of experience are invited to come on out to the next Tuesday meeting.

A former U.S. Army officer, international business executive and English instructor, Mr. Peterson resources his diverse background to creatively present readers with his poignant stories and experiences about the human condition.
