PALM BAY ― The Palm Bay Parks & Recreation Department has announced a name change for their monthly First Friday by the Bay events. The events will now be known as Fun Friday by the Bay. Free Fun Friday concerts will take place on a selected Friday of each month at Veterans Memorial Park, 2201 Port Malabar Blvd NE, and feature a different genre of music each month. Gates open at 5 p.m. and live music begins at 6 p.m.

"The name change allows us the opportunity to move events to a different Friday of the month in case of weather-related issues or conflicts with holidays or other city events," said Andy Dimmig, Community Outreach Coordinator. "It will help to make things less confusing for our patrons when we have to move an event to a different Friday."

Fun Friday events feature live music, food trucks, beer & wine sales, vendors, giveaways, and a bounce house and kids' zone. Admission and parking are free, and all ages are welcome. A DJ will kick off the evening at 5 p.m. and keep you dancing during band breaks. At 6 p.m. the featured band of the month takes the stage.

Most Fun Fridays will still take place on the first Friday of each month but may be moved due to weather or other scheduling conflicts.
