Amazing Race

TITUSVILLE — An exciting opportunity is in preparation for residents of north Brevard that will bring the community together for a day of unique challenges.

The Titusville Area Visitors Council has been working toward hosting its own version of “The Amazing Race,” during which participants working in teams of two will play for the title of “Amazing Race Titusville.”

A date of the race has yet to be determined, but event organizers anticipate a date will be set for a Saturday in the summer of 2020.

“We wanted to create an event for Titusville to showcase the things we have to do here, for people in and outside our area and to encourage tourists to come here,” said Nicole Hall, liaison with the Titusville Area Chamber of Commerce.

The event will also raise funds that will benefit the TAVC and the local charities chosen by the top three winners.

Titusville’s Amazing Race will feature five legs that will put teams through a series of mental and physical challenges, according to Ms. Hall.

The TAVC is currently looking for businesses to participate as hosts for each leg.

The guidelines posted for submissions includes a location that can accommodate up to 50 teams of two, should take teams between 45 minutes and one hour to complete, and may incorporate other businesses as long as participants don’t need to travel by car or any other motorized vehicle to get there.

There will be no fee for businesses to participate, but businesses must be able to provide what’s needed for the challenge, Ms. Hall said.

An example from the guidelines states, “A clue leads you on a quarter mile run to a business where you need to find another clue in a bale of hay. This clue directs you to a detour where you must choose between completing a large puzzle or carrying 1,000 pounds of weights, 100 yards. Once completed, your next clue directs you to a half mile run to the pit stop.”

The challenge will end when participants run across the Max Brewer Bridge to Sandpoint Park, where an after party will be awaiting finalists.

The public is invited to attend the after party, which will feature celebrity appearances by former Amazing Race contestants from the televised show on CBS, food and music.

The Titusville Area Visitors Council aims to promote tourism through enhancing the visitor experience and supporting local businesses.
