Space Center Virtual Camp: The Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex is holding its final "Virtual Camp" from Tuesday April 6 through Thursday April 8. Registration is now open.

The Virtual Camp KSC offers hands-on science, technology, engineering and math activities for elementary school age students. It was launched last year after the still ongoing coronavirus pandemic forced the suspension of the in-person camp.

"Campers" will receive kits with experiment supplies prior to the start of the three-day camp. Then they will connect in real-time via Zoom video conferences with a member of the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex education staff. During each 3-hour session will complete activities focused on STEM learning, hosted from a variety of locations at the visitor complex.

This virtual camp is set for:

April 6 – 8 from 1 p.m. – approximately 4:30 p.m. ET

Day 1: Rocketry – Forward to the Moon

Day 2: Low Earth Orbit – the Space Shuttle and ISS

Day 3: Living and Working on Mars

Rules for Deplorables: The Brevard Federated Republican Women will meet at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 7 at the Space Coast Convention Center on 103 Tucker Lane in Cocoa at 11 a.m..

Help Restore the Indian River Lagoon: This is an opportunity to volunteer for a pilot project to help restore Indian River Lagoon habitats by building an oyster and clam reef and planting a sea grass mat on the west side of Samsons Island.

Katie Morrissey at Studios of Cocoa Beach: The Studios of Cocoa Beach continues its series of mini solo exhibitions with ceramic art by Katie Morrissey. You can view the exhibition the entire month of April.

Katie has been working with tile for over 21 years. And while she often uses found items in her work, she mainly creates and modifies ceramic tile. Adding art work and firing them in a kiln creates individual small works of art.

WID Golf Tournament for STEM: The Women in Defense (WID) Space Coast Chapter is hosting a scholarship fund raising golf tournament to help raise scholarship funding for women pursing careers in STEM, Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. Jim has pursued two passions throughout his life, travel and photography. He has covered much of the world, always with a camera in hand. As a result, much of his work is travel inspired. The Great Florida Air Show: The U.S. Navy Blue Angels will headline The Great Florida Air Show on Saturday May 15 and Sunday May 16 at the Orlando Melbourne International Airport (MLB).

This will be the Blue Angels first air show over Melbourne since 2015. They will fly the Team’s new aircraft, the F-18 Super Hornet. It is the first time in 35 years that the Team has upgraded its aircraft.

The air show will also include a demonstration of the skills of the U.S. Special Operations Command Parachute Team and an exhibition by the official U.S. Air Force F-16 Viper Demonstration Team.

Other air show participants include nine-time U.S. National Aerobatic Champion Rob Holland, Mike Wiskus of Lucas Oil Air Shows, and Red Bull Air Races Champion Mike Goulian. Titusville Bicycle Trek: A 14-mile day of cycling adventure to include the Chain of Lakes Park and Rails to Trails path! It happens on Saturday June 12. We meet at 9 a.m. at the Titusville Welcome Center located at 419 S. Hopkins Avenue in Titusville.

We will proceed a block north to Sunrise Bakery for coffee and homemade pastry before we start the ride. We will ride through downtown to the trail and go north to Truman Scarborough Avenue, head east to Chain of Lakes, ride the Chain of Lakes, climb the 75’ tower to see Indian River and launch pads, then ride north through the park to Jay Road, cross US 1 and head north to Hwy 46, where we turn around and go south to Dixie Crossroads for lunch.
