• 6th Annual Brevard Renaissance Fair: Your passport back in time! Come to the 6th Annual Brevard Renaissance Fair. More than 100 artisans and stage shows and 35 acts are booked for this year's fair.

The fair is being held on the weekends of Jan. 16-17, 23-24, 30-31, and the weekend of Feb. 6-7.

Thursday Jan. 21

• Rob Schneider at the King Center: Actor, comedian, screenwriter and director, Rob Schneider will appear on the main stage at the King Center for Performing arts in Melbourne on Thursday, Jan. 21 at 8 p.m. He is a stand-up comic and veteran of the award-winning NBC sketch comedy series Saturday Night Live. Schneider has gone on to a successful career in films, television and continues his word-wide standup tour.

Schneider’s first Netflix comedy special, “Asian Momma, Mexican Kids,” premiered globally on August 11, 2020. Filmed in February, the special gives viewers a look at Schneider’s family and personal life through hilarious anecdotes. The special ends with a surprise duet performance with Schneider’s daughter Elle King.

Hosted by Schneider and his wife Patricia Maya Schneider, the weekly show features occasional guests-from the duo’s Hollywood friend to their gardener while dissecting show business, their contrasting parenting methods, jokes, good food, philosophy and more. New episodes begin airing in August. The three-time Emmy nominated writer for SNL is having the best time of his life, enjoying raising his 7 and 3 year old girls, Miranda and Madeline, with his wife Patricia. Schneider is also the father of singer/songwriter Elle King.

• Breakfast with the pols: The Greater Palm Bay Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring a breakfast at American Legion Post 117 on Thursday Jan 21.

Come meet the new mayor of Palm Bay and the new city council members from Palm Bay and West Melbourne. Saturday Jan. 23

• Free Plane Rides for Kids: Children ages 8 to 17 can take to the air on Saturday Jan. 23 during the 'Young Eagles Flight Rally' on Merritt Island.

It takes place at a new location, the Servant Air Ministries hangar at 471 Manor Dr. at the Merritt Island Airport.

The event is sponsored by the Chapter 724 of the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA).

“The Airplane rides are FREE”, said Don White, Chapter Coordinator for the event. “We hope to build a one on one relationship between the pilots and the young people, thus, giving the new generation a chance to learn more about the possibilities that exist in the world of aviation, while enjoying the thrill of flying."

The flights are twenty minutes on average depending on the type of airplane.

Following the flight, each Young Eagle will receive a Certificate making him or her, an Official Young Eagle Flight Member, and a personal Flight Log Book from Sporty’s Pilot Shop. Their names will also be entered into the “Worlds Largest Log Book”. This book is on permanent display at the EAA Air Adventure Museum in Oshkosh, WI.

All pilots and planes are certified by the FAA and they are insured.

Pre-registration is required. A parent must register their kid(s) at: http://YEDAY.org and fill out the registration form and then click on the SUBMIT button for this event.

A parent or guardian must accompany the child and sign the registration form. When you arrive at the airport the registration form will be printed out for the parent to sign.

Anyone without access to a computer will be able to register online when they arrive at the airport or they can use a computer at a public library.

For everyone’s safety, Social distancing will be observed on the ground. Masks will also be required for parents and kids on the ground and students will be required to wear a mask in the plane.

• Kaleidoscope 2021: The Eau Gallery has issued a call for art and prospectus for Kaleidoscope 2021. The show will "explore the many facets of art."

No more than 50 works will be accepted into the exhibit. A panel of three artists will jury the exhibit and a separate judge will select the award winners. Over $1,500 in awards will be issued.

The exhibit is open to all artists over 18 years of age who are full-time or seasonal Florida residents. All 2D and 3D mediums are eligible. Your art must be appropriate for viewing by all ages.

• Classic Car Show @ the Strawberry Fest: Bring your classic cars and your entire family to the Strawberry Fest at Wickham Park on Saturday Feb. 20 & Sunday Feb. 21. Rain or shine! Enjoy Plant City strawberries, a free bounce house, delicious food, pony rides, and arts & crafts. There will be a berry cute baby contest, train rides, face paintings and a hula hoop contest for the kids along with plenty of strawberry shortcake, strawberry fudge, and strawberry lemonade.
