BREVARD COUNTY — Crosswinds Youth Services, Inc. has announced that they surpassed their fund raising goal for the 23rd Annual Great Brevard Duck Race.

The race was held virtually on March 27. A computer generated thousands of little yellow ducks each of which was randomly assigned a number linked to a donor. Animated images of the ducks were emptied into a virtual stream and raced to the finish line.

In all 11,148 donor pledges were made for ducks in the race. Just over $120,000 was raised.

The proceeds will help Crosswinds continue to provide essential services for hundreds of children in crisis.

Bonnie Galloway was the Grand Prize winner. She got a free 2 year lease on a 2021 Honda Civic, courtesy of Space Coast Honda. She adopted her Quack Pack online through Community Credit Union.

Crosswinds Director of Development Misty Campbell thanked all of the sponsors, duck adopters, volunteers, and others whose generosity and enthusiastic participation she said made the event “a tremendous success.”

Crosswinds provides shelter, food, emergency services, counseling and other support to youths in need.

Over the past 47 years Crosswinds has provided services to thousands of children through programs designed to strengthen families and offer young people the support, skills and opportunities they need to succeed.
