BREVARD COUNTY — Never before has Brevard County seen the likes of an epic showdown between restaurants to determine who really serves the best wings in town.
The inaugural “Space Coast Wing Battle,” hosted by Battle Bros LLC, will serve unlimited wings, craft beers and specialty drinks from 6-10 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 8 at Viera Regional Park, 2300 Judge Fran Jamieson Way.
Tickets start at $45 per individual, for general admission at 7 p.m. VIP tickets are still available, which get you through the door at 6 p.m. to beat the lines and get first dibs on all the food and beverages.
This event is for adults aged 21 and older.
All profits will benefit The Children’s Hunger Project, a local nonprofit that provides weekend meals for elementary school children listed on the Free or Reduced Lunch Program in Brevard.
“From day one we knew we wanted to either be giving back to the community or partnering with a charity or good organization,” said Sean Beck, co-founder of Battle Bros LLC. “We reached out to The Children’s Hunger Project because it was a no-brainer, for us, as fathers. We’re a food-styled event and we know they they're an outstanding organization that helps feed children within our community.”
Lined up to compete are 17 restaurants from across the county. Attendees will be handed a token to vote for their favorite wings to elect a “People’s Choice” winner. A panel of accredited judges will name the ultimate “Space Coast Wing Battle Champion.”
Judges will award points based on a blind taste test, considering the taste, quality, and overall opinion of each competitor’s wings.
Live entertainment will be provided by the band Coastal Breed.
Host Battle Bros LLC was inspired to create a public event that would draw the community together while at the same time raising awareness to help a deserving nonprofit.
“The public response has been overwhelmingly positive,” Mr. Beck said. “It’s going to be a fun night out. You don’t have to worry about showing your I.D. at each booth or paying for food and drinks; once you’re in the gates, everything's included.”
Mr. Beck said he and his business partner, Jake Schmalenberger, are already considering future events that may be more family-friendly, as well as the return of the Space Coast Wing Battle in 2021.
