BREVARD COUNTY — If you’ve traveled across Viera lately, it’s difficult not to notice the additions and construction projects currently underway.

Viera is a master-planned community that is currently one-third of the way built out, according to Eva M. Rey, director of community management, amenities, and communications for The Viera Company.

Those interested in learning more about the future of Viera are invited to attend a timely discussion with Ms. Rey entitled “What’s New in Viera?”

The talk is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 29 at One Senior Place, 8085 Spyglass Hill Road, Viera..

Seating is limited, and for those who prefer to stay at home during this time, a livestream of the event via Zoom is available to the public upon request.

A conference room will be prepared for guests at One Senior Place to allow social distancing, and those attending are asked to wear a mask.

Ms. Rey will take questions from those in attendance and will address what the next 30 years of living in Viera will look like. She will also discuss the Viera Town Center and Borrow’s West, the new commercial, residential and retail development project that is developing on Stadium Parkway and Viera Boulevard.

“There have been some publicly announced projects, such as The Venue at Viera and the expansion of Sonata Viera,” said Barbara Fradkin, director of One Senior Place. “The Venue at Viera is a 55-plus community that is designed uniquely for convenient and accessible senior living. These will be affordable apartments with one and two bedrooms, and a two bedroom with a den in a four-story mid-rise building with elevators.

“Sonata Viera is a well-established Assisted Living community and they have broken ground on their new independent and memory care apartments,” Ms. Fradkin added.

Other updates will include current and projected demographics, roadways and the Pineda extension, parks, golf cart use and more.

In her role with The Viera Company, Ms. Rey brings in more than 20 years of experience working in the public sector and nine years in the private sector.

She was hired in 2015 and has since been a liaison to Viera homeowners’ associations, as well as presiding over all developer-controlled associations, and oversees the transition to resident control.

Ms. Rey’s experience includes working for two other top rated master-planned communities in Florida, as the Executive Director at Lakewood Ranch Town Hall in Manatee County and the Director of Purchasing and Support Services in The Villages.

The importance of community and charity are aspects Ms. Rey keeps in mind as she has served as a past president of the Rotary Club of Viera. She is actively involved with various organizations from the Viera Regional Business Alliance for the Melbourne Regional Chamber, Transit One, Family Promise of Brevard, Sharing Center of Central Brevard, Viera High School Student Advisory Committee, Brevard Achievement Center Industry Advisory Council and the Citizens’ Advisory Committee for The Children’s Hunger Project.
