BREVARD COUNTY — Three seats are up for grabs as four candidates compete for the West Melbourne City Council race.

On Nov. 3, residents will be asked to vote in the General Elections approach for who they want to represent them in this capacity.

Below are the candidate profiles for those interested in filling the seats of your local city council.

Pat Bentley, 63, Incumbent

Number of years as resident: 23 years

Occupation and company you work for: L3Harris Senior Engineering Manager (recently retired)

Education: Bachelor of Science Business Administration (BSBA) Rollins College

Marital status: Married

Number of children: Three children

What makes you the best candidate for this seat?: “My experience as a program and senior engineering manager at L3Harris has uniquely qualified me for this position. I have experience in engineering, contracts, salary planning, career development, and finance. These experiences provide me a strong base when making business decisions.

“I approach this position with no hidden agenda. My desire is to keep West Melbourne a city of distinction. I promise to manage the finances in the city’s best interest. West Melbourne is one of the few cities in the state that has fully funded its police retirement fund. I expect this generation to pay for this generation’s expenditures.”

Matt Grigajtis, 40

Number of years as resident: Six years

Occupation and company you work for: Senior Software Engineer for Health First, Inc.

Education: Bachelor of Science in IT with a Minor in Economics from Southern New Hampshire University, Manchester, NH;

Associate of Science in Computer Programming from Albuquerque Technical Vocational Institute (has since been renamed to Central New Mexico Community College) in Albuquerque, NM

Marital status: Married

Number of children: Three children

What makes you the best candidate for this seat?: “My plan is to focus on the efficiency of government by implementing Agile and Lean principles directly to it. I'm also going to make it a priority to keep our taxes low, even lower if it's possible by being as fiscally responsible as possible. I will also pay close attention to our infrastructure by making sure our roads are in good repair and our water lines clean and clear.”

Daniel R. McDow, 60

Number of years as resident: 10 years

Occupation and company you work for: DBMC LLC - Own

Education: Trade School - Allied Health Sciences-Catholic Health Association (Chicago) thru St. Louis University (Dr. Berman Higher Education Studies);

Certified Professional Healthcare Management (CPHM) No college Degree, - Part Time Jr. College -Wright College and Truman College in Chicago

Marital status: First marriage (Louise) of 32 years passed of cancer in 2012. Married Bill McKay in 2017

Number of children: Two children, seven grandchildren

What makes you the best candidate for this seat?: “I love living, working and playing in West Melbourne and want to see it continue to be successful during this most challenging and stressful time.

“I am prepared to help lead our city and currently the chair of the Parks & Recreation Board! I will be diligent to secure our financial future, re-invest in the aging infrastructure, initiate an eco-friendly roadmap and I am determined to maintain our exemplary city services. Stephen Phrampus, 54

Number of years as resident: Four years

Occupation and company you work for: Retired law enforcement

Education: Associate degree in Criminal Justice from Rowan College of South Jersey Cumberland Campus

Marital status: Married

Number of children: Two children

What makes you the best candidate for this seat?: “I will bring Integrity, Transparency and Executive Management Oversight to the City Council, along with my inquisitive, proactive and approachable nature. I am unafraid to challenge the status quo and expect accountability, as it should be expected of me.”
